Why Vote for Shiva

My Passions
I have lived in Cameron Park for 18 years and raised two children in this community. In my opinion, Cameron Park is a great place to live and raise a family. I have also ran a business in Cameron Park for 11 years and have volunteered on the local Chambers, service organizations and non-profit boards. I have a deep passion towards maintaining and improving the quality of life in Cameron Park. This means fire safety, public safety, park and recreation, youth programs, senior citizens activities and balanced development in Cameron Park.

As the past President of the Shingle Springs-Cameron Park Chamber of Commerce, I have spearheaded an online survey from the residents and businesses in Cameron Park to hear their thoughts on what they want to see for our community and the future of Cameron Park. Using the feedback from the survey, I was able to secure a $30,000 grant funding to conduct a feasibility study to bring Farmer's Market to our community.

I am also passionate about the new Community Center and making sure that it will enhance and benefit our community for many years to come. As the Chair of the Revenue Enhancement Advisory Group (REAG), I volunteered many hours to help the CSD staff with new ideas to market the new Community Center and ensure revenue for activities offered to our residents.

As the Chair of the Vocational Service with the Cameron Park Rotary Club, I am actively involved with students to gain the necessary knowledge and ethics of the business environment. Our club grants scholarships to deserving students to help with their future college goals. Our club also grants vocational scholarship to graduates who cannot afford the 4-year college.

As treasurer of the Snowline Hospice, I have been involved in a worthy organization to ensure help and quality of living at end of life.

My involvement to improve our community and stay connected with our County so they can hear our voice will never cease!

My Strengths
I carry the right qualifications to be your Community Services District Director in Cameron Park. My strong technological background gives me the insight to look for innovative ways to move our community forward. I have the ability to analyze situations quickly and ascertain the right solution. I have gained a great deal of management and leadership skills while operating my successful business over the past eleven years. I will apply my experience in business and personal life to serve as a Board member in Cameron Park.

Our Community:
Cameron Park is a very unique community with many assets and great potential for future generations. We can preserve the rural and family atmosphere in our community by maintaining and enhancing the following:

- Fire & Public Safety

Fire & Public safety is an issue that needs continuous attention and improvement. Making sure that our community is financially strong will ensure the Fire Department services. Stronger family values, education and recreational programs for our children/youth will directly help the law enforcement and public safety. We must provide assiduous support for our Fire Department to serve the increasing demand in our area.

- Park and recreation

We have beautiful parks and excellent recreational programs in our area. We can continue to support our parks by maintaining fiscal strength.

- The new Community Center

The new Community Center is an asset to our community and opens many opportunities for our local residents. The biggest challenge that we have ahead of us is to make sure that we stay financially self sufficient with the new center. I support the following for the new Community Center:
•  Teen and youth programs
•  Senior programs
•  Sports activities and programs
•  Utilizing the pool with local groups
•  Work closely with established local organizations to maximize the use of facility •  promote the center to local residents and support worthy causes
•  Branding and promotion of the Community Center

- Roads & Transportation

We need to consider the following:
•  Have our voice heard with the County level about maintaining and improving the quality of the roads in Cameron Park
•  More environmental friendly transportation enhancements (bike lanes, walking paths, etc.)
•  Public transportation improvements including options for children/youth
•  Transportation services for seniors
