My Passions
I have a deep passion towards improving many things in El Dorado County, with strong economic development at the top priority. The stronger our county is economically, the more we can do to improve the quality of life and offer more opportunities for El Dorado County residents. The public safety, youth programs, senior citizens activities, park and recreations, fire safety, etc will all be possible when we make a sound fiscal foundation in our county.

El Dorado County is already a great place to raise a family. I have personal experience in this as I raised my son here who is now attending college, and my teenage daughter, currently in junior high school. We can build upon the base already here by having more activities and places to go for families. I would like to encourage people to get involved in their communities by volunteering and doing whatever they can.

My Strengths
I carry the right qualifications to be your supervisor in El Dorado County. My strong technological background gives me the insight to look for innovative ways to move the county forward. I have the ability to analyze situations quickly and ascertain the right solution. Owning my own business for ten years has given me the leadership and management skills needed to make my business successful. I will apply my experience in business and personal life to serve as a supervisor in District 1. It is up to me to make my business survive and thrive financially by being prudent but keeping my customers happy at the same time. That same balance can be applied to the county.

Economic Development:
With proper planning and vision for El Dorado County, we can achieve our goal of a strong economy and preserve the quality of life that everyone may have originally moved to our county for.
We need to have plans for “smart growth” since expansion is inevitable and would happen whether we like it or not. We can preserve the rural and family atmosphere in our county by doing the following:

- Create more jobs in the county

Recruit larger companies to locate in El Dorado County. Creating more high-paying jobs in the county will help the following:

•  Decrease the commute and traffic

•  Help local economy and keep tax dollars in the county as people run errands during lunch time and after work

•  Create more reciprocating jobs as local restaurant and services would benefit from more people working in the county

- Increase local tax dollars by encouraging “shop locally” campaigns

It is important to keep our tax dollars in the county as we see more budget cuts from the State and Federal. This is an education process and needs to work hand-in-hand with recruiting the right businesses to our communities. An example of this is the survey that the SSCP chamber of commerce conducted in 2006 to identify the needs of the local residents.

•  Educate residents on how their tax dollars directly help our safety, fire, roads and health

•  Encourage people to shop locally by highlighting the benefits such as our lower sales tax (7.25%) and the ability to save time and save gas

•  Provide the services that they need so they can find what they need locally

- Promote tourism and local events to bring tax dollars to our county

El Dorado County is unique in the sense of tourism. We have wineries, historical points of interest and other attractions to bring interest to our communities.

Transportation:
Stronger Economic Development within our county directly affects transportation and traffic. Creating more local jobs will put less stress on our roads, traffic and road maintenance. We need to consider the following:
•  More environmental friendly transportations (bikes, walking paths, etc.)
•  Better public transportation
•  Transportation for younger generation
•  Transportation for elderly

Education:
Education is very important in creating a strong and healthy community.
•  Strengthen local community colleges by involving local businesses and develop curriculums to fulfill the local workforce needs
•  Better communication between local community colleges and universities
•  Continue our career technology effort for El Dorado County to help high school students find an appropriate path to their future career
•  Stronger public and private schools

Public Safety:
Public safety is an issue that needs continuous attention and improvement. Stronger family values, education and economy will directly help the law enforcement and public safety. We need to be prepared for more law enforcement personnel and put in place preventive measures to deal with the increase in public safety demands.
