I'm running for El Dorado County Supervisor because this community is important to me. It is where my husband and I are raising our family, where we operate a business, and where we are likely to spend the rest of our lives.
I was born and raised in Tehran/Iran. I came to the United States in 1986 with my 2-year-old son. I became a citizen of this country the legal way. Now I consider myself so fortunate to have lived the American dream. This is a perspective that makes me unique in my appreciation of what we have here in this community.
My passion for economic development has been the driving force behind my involvement in the community. As the President of the Shingle Springs/Cameron Park Chamber of Commerce I have volunteered my time to try to make the community more business friendly and a better place to live for all of us.
My involvement in El Dorado County includes donating thousands of hours in support of local groups by working with them, hosting websites for them, and promoting the community at every turn.
The foundation for my life is my Christian faith and my family. El Dorado County needs to continue to be a place where we can raise our families in a safe environment with options for young people. This means good schools, safe parks, senior centers, and groups that support families.
I am not looking for a job or a career. I have that. Running for Supervisor is about serving the people of El Dorado County. In January 2009 when I am sworn in as a County Supervisor you will see a continuation of my work to make our community an even better place.
